Joliet Region Education Hawk Scholarship Fund

Making a difference in our community

The Joliet Chamber Education Committee established the JOLIET REGION EDUCATION HAWK SCHOLARSHIP FUND in 2014. Modeled after a successful scholarship program in other states, this program exists to inspire and motivate students to go beyond high school education through recognition and financial reward for academic performance and community service.

Each year 46 elementary students are awarded $1,000 scholarships from all public and Catholic elementary and middle schools in Joliet, Laraway, Elwood, Rockdale, Channahon and Troy school districts to encourage them to attend college. An awards banquet is held in the recipients’ honor to acknowledge their accomplishment.

This gratifying project is made possible by contributions from community organizations and local businesses with the goal to raise $57,000 annually to sustain the scholarship fund. All scholarship funds will be invested through the Community Foundation of Will County who will serve as our 501©3 entity. If you would like to participate as a donor, please contact the chamber office for more information. We would be happy to schedule a time to come to you and discuss the rewards of being a benefactor.

It is a small, charitable investment to ensure a large return for our community now and in the future.

“I started to cry when I found I won because this is not something that happens every day. I will be the first person in my family to go to college. This scholarship will help my family the most.”
