Chamber Members:
We are going to keep this light today as not much big news has surfaced. Hopefully, all is going well for you, your employees, and your organizations.
Congress Returns Update
House leaders today reversed course on plans to bring the chamber back into session next week amid fears over whether Congress can safely operate business amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Senate, however, plans to move forward with reconvening on Monday.
PPP Audits
Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin told CNBC on Tuesday the government will audit any company taking out more than $2 million from the Paycheck Protection Program. “I’m going to be putting out an announcement later this morning that for any loan over $2 million, the Small Business Administration will be doing a full review of that loan before there is loan forgiveness,” Mnuchin said.

Finally, another reminder for all of you from the earlier email. We are going to welcome back Congressman Bill Foster for a Federal update video conference on the newest round of federal funding. He will share with us info on the PPP and EIDL reopening, additional funding for health centers & hospitals, and ramped up testing. Additionally, he will talk about some of the proposals that we are hearing about for the “CARES Act 2” funding. Congressman Foster will also share his ideas on vaccine testing with health individuals. You may register with the link below for the 1:00 session this Friday, May 1st.
