The DOL's new overtime regulation will dramatically change which employees must be paid overtime if they work more than 40 hours a week. The new salary threshold that defines who is eligible will go from $455/week ($23,660 annually) to $913/week ($47,476 annually)-a 100% increase. Employers will either have to increase an employee's salary to continue classifying them as exempt, or reclassify them to be eligible for overtime.
The new overtime rule will take effectDecember 1if Congress doesn't act ... and so far, they haven't.
Tell your Congressman before it's too late: Fight Back Against New Overtime Regulations
The Department of Treasury has issued proposed regulations targeting family businesses for higher estate and gift taxes, simply for being family-owned businesses. The regulations accomplish this by forcing the estates of family business owners to disregard important facts, such as control and marketability, when ownership of a business is passed to the next generation. Lack of control and marketability can greatly affect a business's value. Without these tools, which are factored into the valuation of a business, estate taxes could increase 30 percent or more.
We are encouraging all impacted parties to contact your Congressman to express your thoughts.
