The Joliet Chamber will host a Business-to-Business EXPO / Job Fair on Wednesday, October 14th, 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. at 113 Republic Hall, located at 113 Republic Avenue, Joliet. Nominating Committee Proposed Directors and Officers

The Chamber Nominating Committee proposes the following candidates to fill the vacancies on the Board of Directors of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  The Terms shall be for the period of January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2018.

Jeff Pierson - The Voyager Group, Ltd.

Howard Wright - State Farm Insurance


Nominated as officers of the Board of Directors for the year 2016 are:

Chair of the Board - Howard Hamilton, Robert E. Hamilton Consulting Engineers, Inc.

Vice Chair - Larry Johnson, Silver Cross Hospital

Treasurer - Ken Plante, Plante and Associates

Secretary -Mary Jaworski (per Chamber By-Laws)

One additional Board member will be presented via email - awaiting confirmation.

Article VI, Section 5 of the Chamber Bylaws provides that "Nominations, other than those recommended by the Nominating Committee may be made by any fifteen (15) members in good standing by filing the names of the nominee with the President by November 1st."

Article VI, Section 6 continues "If there are no additional nominees at the expiration of the time designated in Article VI, Section 5 hereof, the Board of Directors shall declare the nominees of the Nominating Committee unanimously elected at the next regular meeting of the Board of Directors."

Chamber Legislative Trip to Washington D.C.

A group of 10 Chamber members will travel to Washington D.C. on Tuesday, October 6 and Wednesday, October 7. The Chamber group will meet with Senator Durbin, Senator Kirk, Congressman Foster, Congressman Lipinski, and Congressman Kinzinger. Additional meetings with the US Chamber of Commerce, Housing and Urban Development, and Deprtment of Transportation are on the schedule as well. Topics on the agenda include: Transportation, Health Care, Federal Budget, Debt Ceiling, Tax Extenders, Fair Labor Standards Act, and Fiduciary Duty.

The Workforce Services Division of Will County has partnered with Employment & Employer Services (E&ES) to make On-the-Job Training (OJT) available to local businesses in Will County seeking new hires. OJT services provide local employers with wage reimbursements up to six months of employment for new hires during their training period.
