Larry Johnson, Silver Cross Hospital, will be honored as the 2015 recipient of the Marx Gibson Community Leadership Award.
The Marx Gibson Community Leadership Award was formed in partnership between the Joliet Region Chamber and the University of St. Francis in 2000. Marx Gibson was an outstanding community leader in the Joliet area, and sadly passed away before his time in 1999. This award is to honor Marx and all that he did for the Joliet community. The award is presented annually at the Community Leadership School (CLS) Graduation Banquet. Congratulations to Larry Johnson on being selected as the 2015 recipient!
Member Luncheon with Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs
The Chamber will host a member luncheon on Friday, December 11th, 11:30 a.m., with the Illinois State Treasurer as the keynote speaker. The luncheon will be held at the Jacob Henry Mansion Gathering Room, 15 S. Richards Street in Joliet. Cost to attend is $35 per person and reservations are required. Mark your calenders for Thursday, December 10th for the Chamber's annual Holiday member Reception, hosted by the Chamber and The Jacob Henry Mansion. The event is from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Jacob Henry Mansion Estate, located at 20 S. Eastern Avenue in Joliet. Bob Kase, Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of St. Francis (USF), has released a jazz quintet CD on the Altenburgh Jazz Label. "As We Gather" was recently nominated for a GRAMMY Award by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences. The nomination was made for "Outstanding Jazz Solo" on the track entitled "Dr. Doo Good," which is an original composition by Kase. The album was recorded at the USF Digital Audio Recording Arts Studio, and was engineered, mastered, and produced by USF faculty members Alby Odum and Jeff Jaskowiak.
