Advocacy Update

Shortly after a Cook County judge booted a redistricting reform proposal from the November ballot, the Illinois Supreme Court announced that it will consider hearing the case aimed at how Illinois' legislative districts are drawn.

Due to the time sensitivity of receiving a decision before the November election, the state's highest court granted an emergency motion to appeal the decision of the Cook County ruling against the constitutionality of the proposed citizen-initiated amendment on redistricting. This marks the first time the Illinois Supreme court has ruled on a citizen initiative since 1994 and the first of its kind on redistricting.

The schedule has been designed to make that transfer easy and convenient. Two midday outbound express trains have also been added. These trains will offer express service from LaSalle Street to Blue Island and stations further south with the option of flag stops at 35th Street/Lou Jones. Two midday outbound trains will also accommodate riders along the line’s Beverly Branch. These trains will also make flag stops at 35th Street/Lou Jones.
